Percer les épaisseurs

In-situ exhibition conceived and produced with Amalia Laurent for the basement of No Supplies' workshops, Brussels

La perspective est la représentation de volumes sur des surfaces sans épaisseurs. C’est une construction pour l’esprit, une manière de représenter le réel de façon à l’imiter. Pourtant la perspective cavalière, à l’inverse des géométraux, est inexacte au sens géométrique. Elle ne nous montre qu’une imitation illusoire du réel qui se rapproche de notre perception de l’espace.

Ici, les artistes Héloïse Colrat et Amalia Laurent se servent des spécificités du lieu afin d’élaborer des pièces qui jouent avec ces codes de représentation de la perspective.

The perspective is the representation of volumes on surfaces without thicknesses. It's a mental construction, a way of representing reality in an imitative way. However, the two-point perspective, unlike the isometric projection, is not correct in geometrical terms.

It shows us an illusory imitation of reality which is closer to our perception of space.

Here, the artists Héloïse Colrat and Amalia Laurent are using the specificities of the place to create pieces that play with those perspective representation codes.
